Former Fiat Chrysler executive Scott Kunselman begins his new job next week as Oakland University’s first chief operating officer. He was hired outside the field of academics and starts his new position on Tuesday. His salary is $325,000/year. Many students are not happy and are complaining that they’re paying him with their tuition money. His hiring came just months after Oakland University raised its tuition more than any other public university in Michigan this year. The 8.48% increase in tuition cost the university $1.2-million in state incentives. Critics also say the job wasn’t posted and no other candidates were interviewed. Oakland officials say the new position will help promote the university and raise funds for the school.
