Dozens of Detroit Schools closed due to teacher sickout

Detroit teachers are staging a sickout Monday to protest what they say are payless paydays. The Detroit Federation of Teachers interim president Ivy Bailey and the union leadership are calling on sick-outs at all Detroit Public Schools,  and dozens are on the closing list. The district told teachers it will be unable to continue paying its employees after June 30. The union held an emergency meeting Sunday. Detroit teachers have staged similar sick-outs this school year in protest of conditions at DPS buildings. See the list of closed schools HERE
