John McCulloch

John was born in Ohio during the baby boom and spent many of his childhood summers vacationing at the family cottage in Michigan. His love of the Detroit area blossomed in 1987 when he came from a top Cleveland radio station to host an afternoon show here.

His passion for salt-water fishing coupled with the volatility of the radio business took John and his wife Cindy to Florida for almost ten years, where John worked concurrently as a radio host and editor of a small newspaper. "We spent 9½ of those years missing Detroit," says John, "and we jumped at the chance to come back when contacted by a Detroit station."

John’s stint with WJR began in 2001. He currently is co-host of "Travel Michigan" on Sunday evenings. He is a frequent substitute host on the weekday shows and brings his unique style to any arena in which he is asked to perform.

John and his wife live in Grosse Pointe Park where they are active in their church and other community activities. He enjoys golf, fishing and reading in his leisure time. He is a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 5-50, Jacksonville, Florida.
