Comerica Park prepares for Monday’s opening day

DETROIT, MI- Crews at Comerica Park work through the weekend to prepare the stadium for Monday’s opening day of the 2015 Detroit Tigers season.

On Thursday crews worked through the rain to prepare concession stands, power wash the seats and test the Chevrolet fountain and video screen scoreboard. After 3 hour-hour process the newest 2015 Chevrolet vehicles, a Velocity Yellow Corvette Z06 and a special Midnight Edition Silverado, were placed by crane to centerfield atop the Chevrolet Fountain.

The kitchen has also been busy preparing for the big day. “Like all week long,” said Executive Chef Mark Szubeczak. “I’m smoking meats right now. We’ll be working through the whole weekend and the holiday getting ready for Monday.” New to the menu this year: Queso Pork Rinds, Foot-long Coney Dogs, Chicken Bacon Cheddar Sandwiches, Coney Quesadila, Bacon & Eggs, Pretzel Dog, Chips & Dip Dog.

Also new to Comerica Park this year, free public wifi with be available for so fans can access the stadium’s data network and share photos and cellular phones more easily. MORE
