Rush Street shooting victim sues 5 Ann Arbor bars where gunman drank

Martin LaBelle recently filed a lawsuit in the Washtenaw County Trial Court against Buffalo Wild Wings, Café Habana, The Black Pearl, Conor O’Neill’s and Rush Street, where he was shot in the abdomen Oct. 27, 2013, after a scuffle on the dance floor. The shooter, 25-year-old Zachary Finneren, of Romulus, was eventually sentenced 4-10 years in prison.

Now, LaBelle is suing Finneren for assault and battery and all the Ann Arbor establishments that served him alcohol, claiming they violated a state liquor law that prohibits serving visibly intoxicated people. The lawsuit alleges Finneren had a blood alcohol content of .17 percent and that he had “very little memory” of the shooting. Finneren was a participant in a bachelor party the day of Oct. 26, 2014, the suit says.
