The Inkster police officer seen on dash-cam video beating a motorist during a traffic stop had a court date this morning. One of the attorneys for Officer William Melendez, James Thomas, says there is still some additional evidence that needs to be gathered.
Today’s probable cause hearing was adjourned until May 28 in Inkster District Court. Melendez, who was fired from his part-time police jobs in Inkster and Highland Park, faces felony charges of assault and mistreatment of a prisoner.
