Saline brothers charged with felonies after sexual assaults of 14-year-olds

Two Saline brothers are now charged with felonies after one of them allegedly had sex with 14-year-old girls and the other threatened the victims over social media, according to police.

Charles Joseph Slattery, 21, is charged with a total of three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct where the victim is between 13 and 16 years old.

Pittsfield Township police Deputy Chief Gordy Schick would not go into detail about the case, but said the victims are 14-year-old girls.

There are two separate cases. The alleged criminal sexual conduct occurred in June 2014, court records show. It was unclear where in Pittsfield Township the incidents occurred. Charles’ brother, Stephen Slattery, 18, was charged Thursday with witness intimidation, records show. He is free on a $5,000 personal bond. Schick said Stephen was using social media to threaten and intimidate the victims in the case. A preliminary examination is scheduled for May 26 for both brothers.

Charles Slattery has other pending cases, according to court records, including a Michigan State Police case from March 2 for driving on a suspended license and fleeing and eluding officers. He is also charged with malicious destruction of property and assault and battery for an offense on April 27, according to court records.

Charles Slattery also has past convictions for domestic violence, assault and battery, malicious destruction of property, breaking and entering a vehicle and shoplifting, according to court records.
