Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged State Senator Virgil Smith of Detroit in connection with a shooting incident involving his 35-year-old ex-wife.

Worthy says at 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, Smith’s ex-wife came to his home on Wexford Street and discovered another woman there.

Smith allegedly assaulted his ex-wife and shot at her car multiple times with a rifle.  Smith has been charged with felonious assault, malicious destruction of personal property, domestic violence assault and battery and felony firearm. He was arraigned Tuesday afternoon. WJR’s Ken Rogulski was there and has this report:
