Four Detroit Police Officers hurt after accident

Four Detroit police officers are in temporary serious condition after a truck ran into the squad car they were standing next to overnight. The truck rear-ended the cop car, and debris from the crash injured all four officers. Authorities say the officers were out patrolling the area of Puritan Avenue and Wyoming Avenue, where there have been several car break-ins lately.

They were standing outside investigating a 16-year-old for the car thefts near the squad car when the incident happened. Police say the 16-year-old man was sitting in the back of the squad car when it was hit by a red pickup truck. After hitting the police car, the truck hit two officers standing nearby.

The officers and the 16-year-old man were taken to the hospital. Police say the 54-year-old man driving the truck was arrested for driving under the influence of liquor.
