The Farmington Hills Police Department parking lot and the command desk lobby are being made available for residents buying, selling or trading items from strangers.
The department says it cannot become involved in the purchase negotiations, but police officers will be in close proximity if needed.
Farmington Hills joins a list of local departments offering the service in an effort to curb potential criminal activity during transactions that may have begun on line.
