Swat team member expected to make full recovery after Saturday hostage situation in Detroit

A Detroit police swat team member is expected to make a full recovery after being shot during a hostage situation on the city’s west side Saturday morning. The officer was shot in the face but was wearing a helmet at the time.  At about 7 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to a home on Strathmore where a 25 year old man had taken his estranged wife and four other family members hostage. The wife had recently taken out a personal protection order against the man.  Detroit Police chief James Craig said one of the wife’s children told police he wasn’t sure his mother would make it out alive.
