The State House has approved bills aimed to increase road funding in Michigan. The package of four bills aims to put more than $1 billion toward road repairs. Some would shift hundreds of millions of dollars away from the Michigan general fund and put it in the Michigan transportation fund.
Another would eliminate the state’s earned income tax credit with some House Democrats speaking out against that bill and other house republicans speaking put in favor of it. It ultimately passed by just five votes, 57-52. The earned income tax credit is available to low-income workers and their families in the state. It helps those workers keep more of what they earn to afford the basics, according to the Michigan League for Public Policy. The package of bills…4505-4616… Now are head to the state senate for approval.
