Wayne County Executive Warren Evans reaches deal with retirees

Wayne County Executive Warren Evans says a new agreement with retiree’s will save about 20 million dollars a year. The deal comes after five years of litigation with five thousand retirees over the county’s efforts to end health care benefits to the retirees. The settlement provides monthly stipends of 130 dollars for each retiree and 130 dollars for a spouse in lieu of health care benefits. The county is facing a 70 million dollar deficit.
