Sheriff: drunk driving was the cause of the Stony Creek crash that killed 3 teens

It was a drunk driving crash that killed three teenagers in May at Stony Creek Metro Park. Macomb County authorities say no charges will be filed. The drunk driver is dead. Those are the major conclusions of the investigation into the crash that killed Jonathon Monolios, Michael Wells, and Emanuel Manaj, and critically injured Gregory Bobchak and Joseph Narra.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said their speeding car was going up to 82 miles an hour before the crash, which occurred as the carload of boys was headed for the beach at Stony Creek to meet some girls. Sheriff Wickersham says the driver of the car was Jonathan Monolios. Wickersham says toxicology tests show that Monolios had a blood alcohol level of .08, which is the limit for legal drunk driving. The other four teens in the car had also been drinking. The car was owned by the parents of Greg Bobchack.

Wickersham says that Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith has determined that no criminal charges will be filed. Wickersham says his office will ticket the two surviving teens for possessing alcohol. Wickersham says, the case is closed.
