Some 30,000 high school-aged youth came to Detroit for the start of a five day convention on Wednesday. All are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. The church group has been organizing these gatherings since the late 1980’s and they are held every three years. This is the first time this youth gathering has come to Detroit. Events are being held at Ford Field. The delegates will also be taking part in community projects in Detroit, Highland Park, Inkster and Wayne.
