There has been a plea deal in the case of a former Tigers pitcher who had been charged with rape. Evan Reed plead no contest to assault. In exchange, the sexual assault charges for an incident involving a woman in casino hotel room were dismissed.  Reed was accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside a room at the Motorcity Casino Hotel.

She said she met Reed at a bar in Royal Oak in March of 2014, didn’t remember leaving the bar, but woke up with Reed in the hotel room the next morning. Reed said the sex was consensual. A judge dismissed the sexual assault charge, the prosecutor appealed and the charges were reinstated. Reed is scheduled to be sentenced August 7th. He could get a year in jail. Probation is possible.
