Citizen complaints led to large scale heroin crackdown

The neighbors had had enough. Detroit Police Chief James Craig said it was citizen complaints about drugs in a neighborhood that helped prompt raids in 12 locations this morning by federal, state and local police officers trying to disrupt a large scale and violent heroin ring.

Federal search warrants were served along Woodward Avenue between 6 and 8 mile Roads. The chief said there were twelve arrests, nine guns were seized along with three AK-47’s and one sub machine gun.  Heroin, cocaine and marijuana were seized. Law enforcement from the FBI, DEA, U.S. Immigration, Michigan State Police, Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and police from Detroit, Ferndale and Royal Oak all assisted in the raids this morning. The chief had this warning for criminals.
