Here are some area election results from local elections Tuesday: Livonia City Treasurer Dennis Wright and City Council Vice President Brian Meakin will compete to be the mayor in the November. Wright captured 54% of the vote, while Meakin had 27%. In  Oakland County, two big school millage votes went down to defeat. Madison Heights voters rejected a $16.7 million bond proposal that would have allowed the district to build a new middle school. For the second time this year, voters rejected a proposal to create a special fund, called a sinking fund,  that would generate tax revenue to pay for major building repairs in the Pontiac School District.

In Hamtramck, voters approved a non-homestead millage renewal. In Hazel Park, voters approved a proposal to renew police services up to 2.8 mills for 10 years. in Northville, voters overwhelmingly decided to add 2.25 mills for 15 years for general operating costs, and in the Clarenceville School District, a millage renewal passed by a vote of 494-251. In Garden City, incumbent Mayor Randy Walker advanced to the November general election along with challenger David Fetter.
