Strange Bedfellows: The leader of the Michigan House wants this investigated

Politics makes strange bedfellows – and sometimes bizarre ones. Michigan House Speaker Kevin Cotter wants an investigation into the conduct of state Reps. Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat after The Detroit News story that the lawmakers tried to get a House aide to cover up their relationship.

Cotter, a Republican from Mount Pleasant, issued a statement in response to audio recordings showing Courser sought the help of a House employee to put out a fictional email saying he had sex with a male prostitute to try to hide his relationship with Gamrat.

The House Aid refused to send the email, but the email was later sent to rank-and-file Republicans across the state from an anonymous email account.
