Pontiac woman in court Tuesday for scalding infant

Breeze Henke

A Pontiac woman is scheduled to be in court Tuesday in connection with the scalding death of her infant cousin. 18-year-old Breeze Henke is charged with manslaughter in the death of 12-month-old Samaria Chambers. Police say, while babysitting, she held the baby in a tub of scalding water because she was angry that the girl had soiled her diaper. Henke told police a three-year-old had turned up the hot water in the bath while she had been distracted. A burn expert at Children’s Hospital in Detroit said that the baby’s burns were consistent with being held down in the water. The infant died of burns and multiple infections in august of last year.
