Dearborn Heights man returns home from being held hostage in Yemen

A Dearborn Heights man returned home Tuesday night after being held hostage in Yemen for the last six months. Sam Farran, 54, was a security consultant and was held hostage with two other people since March.

Earlier this year Shiite Houthi rebels seized power in Yemen which led to intense bombing. During the middle of it all, fellow American Scott Darden had been overseeing the transport of humanitarian supplies and reached out to Farran. They found shelter in what they thought was a secure location until they were arrested.

Farran and a British man were both released but a third American is still being held hostage by Yemen rebels.
