DETROIT — They missed an extra point. They couldn’t convert a 2-point conversion. They even lined up illegally on a missed field-goal attempt.
Denver converted on the mulligan.
That’s six points given up by the Detroit Lions’ special teams, and it made the difference in a 24-12 loss Sunday to the Denver Broncos.
The Lions fall to 0-3 for the first time since 2010, when they finished 6-10, and there is no light for them in the coming weeks. They must now travel to Seattle for a Monday night game at the league’s most intimidating venue, then come back home to face the hottest team in the league in the Arizona Cardinals.
