Governor to take steps to help with unsafe water in Flint

Water in Flint is not fit to drink according to health officials. Today governor Rick Snyder announced the state will spend one million dollars to buy water filters and begin immediately testing water in public schools in Flint. Tests have shown elevated levels of lead in the city’s children, the health department has issued a public health emergency in the city. Flint made a switch from getting water from the Detroit system to the Flint River last year. The move was made while a new regional pipeline is built to Lake Huron. The governor has not ruled out the possibility of reconnecting the city to the Detroit system.
