DETROIT — Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand was eyeing Super Bowl 50 before the start the season. Five weeks later, Detroit still has not won a game and the wheels are coming off. The Lions were run out of their own building Sunday afternoon in an ugly 42-17 blowout against the Arizona Cardinals. That’s the most points they’ve given up since a 48-3 loss against Baltimore on Dec. 13, 2009. They are now 0-5 for the first time since 2008, when they went on to become the only team in NFL history to go 0-16.

Detroit, the league’s last winless team, will look for their first victory next Sunday against the Chicago Bears. The Lions took an early 7-0 lead on a 4-yard touchdown catch by Theo Riddick. It was their first lead in 204 minutes, 28 seconds. But Arizona erased the deficit swiftly, scoring two touchdowns in the span of six plays and reeled off the game’s next 35 points. MORE FROM Mlive
