The UAW will take its proposed contract to members this week. Ratification voting will be scheduled, but first the union is stepping up it’s communications with members on its website and social media. The UAW picked FCA as its target for pattern bargaining with Detroit’s automakers. Contracts with Ford and General Motors were extended as talks proceeded with FCA.
If a deal hadn’t been reached and a strike called, it would have been the first time the UAW had struck a Detroit 3 automaker over wages and benefits during national negotiations since brief walkouts at General Motors and Chrysler in 2007.
