A corruption investigation in the schools

The FBI is looking at Detroit Public Schools and the K thru 12 reform district, the Education Achievement Authority, to determine whether contracts were awarded for kickbacks, according to the Detroit News. The school corruption investigation comes after former DPS official Barbara Byrd-Bennett pleaded guilty to defrauding the Chicago school system by taking 2.3 million dollars in bribes for school contracts in Chicago. Authorities are looking at her activities when she was the head of academic programs in Detroit.
