Pedestrians killed in hit and run accident on Detroit’s west side

A 42-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man were walking to work when they were hit by a car that was slammed into by a speeding SUV. It happened on Detroit’s west side. Police say the Explorer ran through a stop sign and hit another car, which caused the SUV to hit the victims who were standing on the sidewalk. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The people inside the Explorer fled the scene on foot. A 25-year-old man matching the description of the driver went to the police station later and tried to report the car stolen. He was arrested.
