New development breaking ground in Detroit

Mayor Mike Duggan and other community leaders will break ground on a new project. Orleans Landing will cost nearly $65 million to create new retail and residential development along the city’s riverfront. Orleans Landing will feature more than 250 apartments, with 20 percent of them being lower income housing; in addition to 10 thousand feet of retail shops. The area along Atwater has been empty for years. Orleans Landing is expected to open in late 2016. Paul W. Smith talks to Richard Baron, the developer.
