The UAW and Chrysler have a deal

The UAW  and Chrysler has a deal. The United Auto Workers union has approved a new four-year contract with Fiat Chrysler. The vote passed with a 77 percent majority.

Production workers – 77%
Skilled Trades – 72%
Salaried Bargaining Unit – 87%

In a written statement the union said ” the agreement  affords UAW members a strong wage package and job security while still allowing the company to competitively produce high quality vehicles for our customers,”

A previous deal was soundly rejected largely because it didn’t eliminate a much-hated two-tiered pay system. The new agreement gives raises to all workers and eliminates the two tiers over eight years. Now it’s on to GM and Ford to try to bargain for a new contract.
