Chrysler loses big in third quarter due to recalls

It was not a good quarter for Chrysler. Fiat Chrysler reported a 3rd quarter loss of $330 million, mostly because of higher than expected recall costs. FCA was hit with a hefty $842 million in recall expenses and a $157 million worth of parts lost or damaged after a massive explosion and fire at two warehouses in China. Without those charges, FCA would have earned a $303 million profit, meeting Wall Street’s expectations.
