Charles Pugh is trying to dodge his trial

Former City Council president & TV personality Charles Pugh is trying not to show up at his civil trial. Pugh is fighting a subpoena and has no plans to appear at the opening of today’s trial, in which Pugh is being sued. Pugh’s attorney says a subpoena cannot force someone to show up unless the appearance is within 100 miles of a person’s home or place of business. Pugh now lives in New York City. Pugh wants to quash the summons and even bar his absence being mentioned during the trial. A teenager is suing Pugh and Detroit for a million dollars, claiming the AWOL council president made sexual advances at him, a charge which Pugh denies.
