Urban farming debate in Detroit

goat

The Detroit City Planning Commission is considering a new ordinance that would legalize some farm animals, such as goats, chickens, and honeybees on Detroit properties. The proposal comes after a couple had their animals taken away due to the city’s ordinance that bans livestock. A goat farm in the Brightmoor neighborhood was also shut down. The second of two planned meetings will be held on Wednesday at Greater Grace Temple on the city’s west side at 6 p.m.
