Pugh: Don’t make me pay.

Charles Pugh says in court documents that he shouldn’t pay any damages in the civil lawsuit over his illicit actions involving a teen boy. Pugh claims in court documents that he doesn’t have to pay the jury award because his accuser is already getting $350,000 from the Detroit public schools for the same injury he’s holding Pugh responsible for: intentional infliction of emotional distress. Pugh, a former Detroit city councilman and TV personality, argues that his accuser would be double-dipping if he got money from both him and the DPS for the same injury. No money has been paid to the plaintiff, a former Detroit student who sued both Pugh and the DPS, claiming Pugh sexually pursued him during a mentorship program at the Frederick Douglass Academy in 2013 while the DPS looked the other way.
