The jury in the trial of William Melendez has reached a verdict. The former Inkster police officer was charged with assault, misconduct in office and strangulation. He was found guilty of the assault and misconduct charges, not guilty of strangulation. The incident involved the beating of motorist Floyd Dent during a traffic stop. He will be sentenced December 3.
