91-year-old Detroit man robbed and killed, body set on fire

He has lived in his Northwest Detroit home for decades. Now he’s dead, the victim of crime. Detroit police say 91-year-old Paul Monchnik was killed by a robber who set the man and his home on fire to cover up the heinous crime. Police say the suspect is a black male in his 20’s, about 5-9, with a red skull cap and a grey hoodie. Police are searching a house next door to the home of Monchnik. Police say the killer stole the elderly man’s Chevy Venture van, which was seen on surveillance video at a nearby gas station. Police say the killer took the van, got the gas, and came back and set the fire. His body was doused with gasoline. The Chevy Venture has a Michigan license plate of CNU 1721.
