U.S Army helicopter crash at Fort Hood kills four crew members

The U.S. Army is investigating the cause of a helicopter crash that killed four soldiers Monday night at the Fort Hood military post in Killeen, Texas. The national weather service said the wind was calm and skies were clear at the time the Blackhawk went down. All four crew members died. The army says it will appoint a board to examine the cause of the crash. The crew was on a training mission.

The National Guard conducts training missions frequently. Another crew was training north of Dallas over the weekend. In an interview before the training last weekend, Major Randy Stillinger said training missions are important to keep the Guard ready. Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a statement saying he extends his sincerest condolences to the families of the four soldiers who died. He said they lost their lives tragically in preparation to defend the country. Abbott asserts soldiers put their lives on the line every day whether they’re at home or abroad.
