Small Business Saturday kicks off!

Retailer

WJR’s Gene Fogal reminds shoppers that Saturday is “Small Business Saturday”: A day when shoppers are asked to visit their local retailers. Small business Saturday is a relatively new idea, having started just five years ago, but it’s proving to be big business with sales today expected to total over $6-billion in sales. University of Detroit-Mercy marketing professor Michael Bernacchi says customer service is the reason Small Business Saturday is becoming more and more popular because “something big boxes don’t do very well is connect well in the store and that’s an advantage that small businesses has every day and every night.” Bernacchi says small businesses are attracting more younger customers because of they’re getting fed up with not being able to get better service in the bigger stores.
