The Education Achievement Authority is operating … for now

Education Achievement Authority

The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents declined to vote on the future of the Education Achievement Authority. The rebuff will keep the reform district for the state’s worst performing schools running for now. Some say the board was bowing to pressure from Governor Rick Snyder. Meanwhile, the State Board of Education addressed the EAA at a separate meeting. The board does not have jurisdiction over the EAA but voted 5-3 on Tuesday to adopt a statement urging the termination of the EAA, which oversees 15 schools in Detroit.
