Lions fall to Rams despite Stafford milestone

Todd Gurley

The Lions kept things interesting Sunday afternoon, recovering an onside kick after pulling within seven, late in the 4th quarter against the Rams in St. Louis. A bad snap ultimately ended the Lions hope of  victory, turning it over on downs, snapping the Rams 5 game losing stream 21-14. Rookie phenom Todd Gurely came to life in the 3rd quarter after a slow start, rushing for 140 yds and 2 scores. Golden Tate was the lone bright spots for the Lions offense with 9 receptions for 60 yds and 2 TDs. Matthew Stafford became the fastest player to 25,000 yds in NFL history on his first TD throw to Golden Tate in the 3rd, while Calvin Johnson was held to just 1 reception for 16 yards. The Lions suffered a disastrous 2nd quarter with Matthew Stafford throwing a pick six to St. Louis cornerback Trumian Johnson and Brandon Pettigrew going down with a knee injury. Next up for the Lions, a Monday night match up in New Orleans against the Saints Dec. 21st.
