The Detroit City Council is holding a hearing on Thursday regarding its proposal to regulate medical marijuana distribution in the city. The council wants to hear public comments on zoning restrictions that will govern where pot dispensaries can and cannot be located within the city. The hearing is a companion measure to one the council approved last October, which requires dispensaries to be licensed by the city and also requires shop owners to undergo a police background check. The city has seen more than 150 licensed and unlicensed dispensaries open in recent years.
