Massage therapist goes for sentencing on UofM prof. extortion charges

Money

The 24-year-old man and escort massage therapist, Anthony Mitchell, who attempted to extort money from a 52-year-old University of Michigan professor, is scheduled for sentencing Friday. Mitchell pled no contest to one count of stalking and one count of using a computer to commit a crime. Mitchell told police he met the professor in September and that the professor had responded to his online add for a massage. Prosecutors say Mitchell then tried to extort more than $10,000 from the unidentified professor. The professor told police he did not have a sexual relationship with Mitchell, but did give him about $6,000. He remains employed at University of Michigan.
