Pope approves Mother Teresa miracle

Mother Teresa

Italian Bishops’ Catholic newspaper Avvenire is reporting Pope Francis approved the miracle for Mother Teresa’s canonization. The cure is of a Brazilian man with multiple brain tumors. Mother Teresa died at the age of 87. She received the Nobel Peace Prize for her work with the poor and she was beatified in 2003, marking a step toward sainthood, which requires the recognition of two miracles by the pope. No date is set for the canonization, but the Italian media speculates the ceremony will take place during the first week of September 2016 to coincide with the anniversary of her death on September 5, 1997.
