New Director appointed for Detroit Animal Control

Hard Ward DAC from Twitter

Detroit Animal Control officials say they have replaced the agency’s director, Harry Ward. Ward will no longer lead the agency. The change comes after several media reports highlighting sub par conditions and possible wrongdoing within the DAC. Animal rights advocates staged several protests in past weeks and called for Ward to step down. Mayor Duggin appointed the new director, Melissa Miller, who worked for the Humane Society. She is slated to begin her tenure on Monday. Her yearly salary will be $80,000.
