Lansing police officer shot

Police lights

Lansing Police Chief Mike Yankowski issued a press release regarding a home invasion that occurred on Wednesday at approximately 7:30 p.m., on Lansing’s west side. Police say they responded to a call of a man seen entering the home. From outside, police talked to the male perpetrator for about 2 hours before they saw a fire set inside the home. They entered the home, shots were fired at the officers, and the officers retreated. The police regrouped, and later shot the man. Rescue attempts to save the man were made by the Lansing Fire Department. The Michigan State Police will be investigating the incident.
