Robert Downey Jr. pardoned by California governor

Robert Downey Jr.

Actor Robert Downey Jr. has at least one reason to be Merry this Christmas. The Iron Man star received a pardon from the California Governor Jerry Brown for his 1996 drug conviction. Downey was caught with heroin, cocaine, and a gun in his car. He spent nearly a year in prison in 1999 after violating his probation. The governor said “Pardons are not granted unless they are earned … He [Downey] has lived an honest and upright life, exhibited good moral character and conducted himself as a law-abiding citizen.” Downey’s reps did not comment on the pardon.
