Well-meaning doctors attributing to pain pill abuse

Michigan’s staggering opioid abuse epidemic is due, in part, to well-meaning doctors who are asked to relieve their patients pain. For some of those patients, that leads to pain pill abuse and even heroin addiction. Recognizing the problem, some medical schools, such as the William Beaumont Medical School at Oakland University, are mandating pain relief studies for medical students.
