Detroit celebrates New Year’s Eve

2016

Detroit’s New Year’s Eve celebration is in downtown Detroit at Campus Martius and Cadillac Square, starting at 4 p.m. and ending at 1:00 a.m. Organizers of the Motor City event say the celebration include an eight-foot glowing sphere in the shape of the letter “D” in Cadillac Square. For those with young children, the sphere will drop at 6:30, then again for the adults at midnight. This is the 6th year for the program and it grows larger every year. Approximately 30,000 people are expected to attend the festivities.
