Murder rate declines in Detroit

Police with suspect

According to preliminary crime police stats, murder rates declined in Detroit. Police say this is the third year in a row the city’s homicide rate plummeted. In 2015, 295 people were killed, that’s down from 300 killings in 2014. This past December showed a spike, with 38 people murdered. Police officials say they are working to bring in non-fatal shooting suspects because they often negotiate their sentences by turning in suspects in unresolved deadly shootings.
