Motor City Casino carjacker faces prison time

He bet he could solve his money problems at the casino, but it was a bad bet and now he’s going to jail. Forty-nine-year-old Wayne Jones pled guilty to carjacking and robbing two elderly ladies at the Motor City Casino in Detroit last September. He admitted following the ladies to the casino’s roof garage and forcing them to drive him to Detroit’s west side. He then let them go after robbing them of $31. Jones who had no prior criminal record, told police he was in debt and facing foreclosure when he went to the casino and lost everything. Prosecutors say the former steelworker had a six-figure salary, but couldn’t keep his finances under control. Jones faces up to 20 years in prison.
