Motion made to register Charles Pugh case in New York

The lawyer for the former Detroit Public School student who was awarded $250,000 in a judgment against former City Council President Charles Pugh wants to have the case registered in New York. The lawyer filed a motion on Friday saying that Pugh lives in Manhattan and has wages that should be garnished. Back in November, a jury ordered Pugh to pay $250,000 after he was found liable for inflicting emotional distress and battery on the teen. Just a week prior to the Federal Court judgment, the Detroit Public Schools district agreed to pay the victim $350,000.
